TAX INCENTIVE STUDY
In the summer of 2002 The Alliance for Quality Education commissioned a study to evaluate the fiscal impact on Greenville County Schools from our county's use of economic development incentives. The purpose of the study, prepared by Miley and Associates of Columbia, was to gain a better understanding of the distribution of fees generated from economic development agreements. The "Community Guide to Understanding The Greenville County Public School Budget (PDF 598kb)," published in The Greenville News on Sunday, March 30, is a 12-page booklet developed to examine the Greenville County Public School budget and budget process from a layperson's perspective. It answers many frequently asked questions regarding how the budget process works, where the money comes from, and where the money goes. It is written for anyone who pays taxes, sends a child to public school, or has an interest in the public schools. To view this guide, click here (PDF 598kb).
